A message from the owner, Dr. Tess Vaughn

I understand where you are! You're just trying to do the right thing. You're in the gym, you're out running, you're out working in the yard, or playing with your kids, but you're frustrated that your body is letting you down. You're just trying to stay strong, active, and healthy. You're walking in parks, but wishing you could run without pain, without "paying for it" tomorrow, or without leaking and having to think about where a bathroom is or if your pad is going to be enough. You want to be able to hike with your husband or wife, but those high steps up onto the rocks make your hip and butt lock down or spasm. Sometimes it just hurts to stand up after you've been sitting. You have to stand up and pretend like you're looking for something until your hip "frees up." FRUSTRATION, AGGRAVATION, WORRIED...

You're frustrated because you're doing all you can to stay healthy. You've been to the doctors, the chiropractors, the massage therapists, and even other physical therapists. You've taken the prescribed meds and done the tests. They all may help for a short time, but then it comes back. You're also a little worried that it could get worse and get to a point where you can't do the things you love. You're also kind of resigned to the possibility that you're "just going to have to live with it." YOU'RE NOT!

Have you found our site because you’re trying to find something that will help? Have you been recommended to try physical therapy?

If yes, then you’ve come to the right place!

Physical therapy, when done properly, not only gets rid of your pain or leaking, but also finds the root cause of the pain and symptoms so it STAYS AWAY and let's you have the life you want!

We know you’re skeptical. Likely you’ve been to other healthcare practitioners in the past and nothing they’ve done has helped you or your problems.

We understand.

If that sounds like you, you’re not alone. Most of our clients at PT Live It have often:

🙁 Tried treatment elsewhere, sometimes even at other PT clinics, and had poor experiences and results.

🙁 Thought the pain would go away on it’s own it they just rested, only to find that it doesn’t or just assume the leaking is always going to be around.

🙁 Been told by a friend or family member that their pain or problem is just “a normal part of getting older” and to accept it.

🙁 Have been to the doctor and been told that their only options are “painkillers, surgery, or injections”.

🙁 Have tried exercises from YouTube, their personal trainer, or other fitness studios but found they only aggravated the pain or leaking and made their problems worse.

🙁 Have had surgery, injections, or used painkillers only to have minimal or even no success.

Do Any Of These Sound Like You?

If you relate, then we would love to help you by setting up a time for you to Tess, the PT, to find out what can be done to hep you. If you’ve tried a lot of things already, that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it’s actually a good thing because we now know what DOESN’T work and are closer to finding out what WILL work for your problem.

Here’s A Couple People We’ve Helped Recently!

Christy overcame a CrossFit groin injury and is now happily back to working out regularly!

"I felt a pop in my groin when I was working out with severe pain. I did ice, rest, meds, but it didn't improve. I used to wait before I called Tess to come in to give my body time to heal, but that's not always possible or a good idea. Since seeing Tess, she has helped me be able to exercise pain-free and given me knowledge to help myself and not be dependent on her. I highly recommend Tess and would have to say she is by far the best at what she does. She has great insight on the whole body and how best to help it heal."

Back pain is no longer limiting Cathy from "doing what she loves - hiking, running, and just about any other outdoor activity!"

"After a couple of sessions, I feel great and have resumed activity!!! Tess listened to what my "issues" were and was very knowledgeable in the next steps to relieve my pain. I was sent home with exercises and stretches to help with strength and flexibility. She reaches out after your appointment to discuss progress and answer any questions. I would recommend PT Live It to anyone!!!!"

Meet Tess Vaughn, PT, DPT, COMT, OCS, DN

I majored in Psychology at North Georgia College (NGC) in Dahlonega, GA and remained at NGC for a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1996. I worked in a variety of settings after graduation, but eventually landed in private practice in my home town of Winterville, GA with a focus on spine and orthopedics. It was important to me, as the owner of a PT clinic, to make sure I could offer the best care to my community based on experience, research and evidence; therefore, I returned to school for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University. As a goal to provide exceptional care, I received a certification in orthopedic manual therapy, became recognized as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association twice, and became certified in Dry Needling to continue to support the health and wellness of my community. I understand you have a choice for your physical therapy needs and I want you to feel confident in your decision to choose us.

Fast forward 26 years of clinical practice and I realized I wanted to laser focus on why I became a PT initially. I wanted to slow down to spend more one on one time with my clients and focus not only on their injuries, but also the thoughts that control their behaviors. As my kids were growing up, I realized I would limit jumping on the trampoline with them, I wouldn't race my son to the car, or I'd have to limit how far I ran because I may leak from pelvic floor issues or there was pain somewhere in my body. I realized it wasn't the pain or the leaking that bothered me as much as I wasn't able to be the active mom or athlete that defined who I was. Those are the thoughts that control the behaviors. Those are the motivators we need to put the work in to get healthy, stay active, and stay strong!

I understand what it's like to have aches and pains, injuries, or leak when I run or jump rope at CrossFit. I have been a runner since I was 14 years old and there are times I go for a run and it feels like I've never run a day in my life! Our bodies are like that and it's okay, just keep moving in some way. I understand what it takes to raise kids, build a business, and still want, or NEED, to exercise or run. How just even a little bit of time is needed for your sanity, your confidence, your fuel for an adventure. No one wants an injury or a pain to side line them and you certainly don't want to be told to stop exercising or rest or have the run around of doctor's visits, xrays/MRIs, etc. Sometimes the answer can be as simple as tweaking how you move, how you breathe, how you run, or how you lift. Let's decide together what is best for you. The Joy of Living is inside you. LIVE IT!
